What Conn. Gen. Stat. §47a-21 requires

  • Return deadline: 15–21 days
    • 21 days After tenancy ends
    • 15 days After receiving tenant's written forwarding address. Whichever of the two dates is later controls
  • Deposit cap: 2 months' rent — 1 month if the tenant is 62 or older
  • Accrued interest must be paid with the refund; itemized damage statement required for deductions
  • Violation: liable for 2x the deposit
