What Va. Code §55.1-1226 requires
- Return deadline: 45 days
- Deposit cap: 2 months' rent
- 45 days runs from the termination date or the date the tenant vacates, whichever is later
- Itemized deduction notice required within the 45 days; deductions made during the tenancy must be itemized within 30 days of the deduction
- Tenant must receive written notice of the right to attend the move-out inspection
