What Ky. Rev. Stat. §383.580 requires
- Return deadline: 60 days
- Deposit cap: No statewide cap
- Statute sets notice/forfeiture windows rather than a fixed return clock — 60 days used as the conservative deadline (sources disagree: Nolo says 30-60 days)
- Landlord must notify tenant of any refund due; tenant's claim lapses 60 days after notice (30 days if tenant left owing rent without demanding the deposit)
- Applies only where the URLTA is adopted (e.g., Louisville, Lexington); deposit must be held in a disclosed separate account
