What Alaska Stat. §34.03.070 requires
- Return deadline: 14–30 days
- 14 days — No deductions and tenant gave proper notice
- 30 days — Deductions taken or tenant gave improper notice
- Deposit cap: 2 months' rent — No cap when rent exceeds $2,000/month; extra 1 month's rent allowed as pet deposit (non-service animals)
- Written notice of deductions must be mailed with the refund
- Willful noncompliance: up to 2x the amount wrongfully withheld
